“Crossplay gives all friends the opportunity to come together and create fond memories across interactive experiences,” said Simon Allaeys, Senior Director of Online Services at Epic Games. The tools support merging of friends lists, account linking, and cross-platform invites for games that are available in both launchers. For now, the tools allow for cross-play between Steam and Epic Games, with console and mobile support coming in the near future. The publisher has released new cross-compatibility tools which developers can use to implement cross-play between different launchers.
On PC, however, there’s still the problem of cross-play support between Steam and Epic Games Store, a problem that’s now been solved by Epic. Over the past few years, cross-platform play is slowly becoming the norm with Microsoft and Sony finally deciding to play nice with each other.
